In my career as a curriculum developer, I have worked on several proprietary projects at education technology companies.
In my time at Edmentum, I authored and reviewed 2,000+ math modules and practice items for their Exact Path and Study Island products. I also supported the development and review of instructional math frameworks.
I own a storefront on the Teachers Pay Teachers platform, called The Bespoke Bulletin Board, where I provide teachers immediate access to helpful resources for their classrooms.
In my role as a curriculum developer, I mapped out an entire curricular map framework for robot-assisted instruction (RAI), a nontraditional teaching method for children with autism. I scripted, coded, and tested 300+ instructional lessons and activities and maintained 4 customer-facing curricular documents.
Where I Honed My Craft
I honed my instructional craft over the course of 6 years as an elementary school teacher. In practice, I learned how to facilitate evidence-based teaching strategies, adapting instruction to differentiate learning experiences for a variety of learners with a variety of abilities. I grew passionate about helping learners connect to their “why” and find purpose in their learning. During that time, I also developed an understanding of how students and teachers think, which is a helpful skill to have as a curriculum developer.
Where I Foster my Creativity
After I left the classroom, I established a Teachers Pay Teachers storefront (now known as ‘TPT’) as a way to share my favorite resources I had created for my own classroom, that I now no longer needed. Now this platform serves as a space for my educational creativity! I remember the best parts about my teaching experience, creating educational content that uniquely addresses teacher needs. My store motto is that I bring joy to classrooms and help give time back to teachers.
Where I Refine my Curriculum Expertise
In my professional experience, I strengthen my skills in scope and sequencing, learning design, content design, and item writing through ongoing professional development and collaboration. Teachers trust curriculum experts, like myself, to provide them with high-quality instructional materials that help their students learn about the world and meet learning objectives.
I would love to share how my expertise and skills could match your curriculum needs. Let’s get in touch! References provided upon request.
